What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT), is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy sound waves to stimulate healing in injured tissues.

It is commonly used to treat conditions such as tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, shoulder impingement, calcific shoulder tendinopathy, and other musculoskeletal disorders. Essentially any tendon issue that is being particularly stubborn will generally respond very well to this.

The shockwaves are directed to the affected area, promoting blood flow, reducing pain, and encouraging tissue regeneration. Shockwave therapy is often considered when other conservative treatments, like physical therapy or medication, have not provided sufficient relief.

Shockwave is used in conjunction with other care such as hands on therapy and rehabilitation to reach a full resolution of your symptoms.

A typical treatment takes around 15–20 minutes, with no downtime afterwards.
