Firstly, thank you for choosing Surbiton Chiropractic Centre and for putting your trust in us. We know that visiting a new healthcare clinic can sometimes feel a little daunting, so our aim is to make your first visit as straightforward and comfortable as possible.
You’ve booked an appointment with an experienced and highly qualified team who will take the time to understand your problem, answer your questions and work with you to create a plan that is right for you.
We will send you appointment reminders by text message and email. We know it might sometimes feel like we’re sending a lot of reminders, but we find they are a great way of helping patients remember their appointments!
In fact, our clinic director Matt has based the number of reminders we send on the number of reminders he needs for his own appointments — and unfortunately, that’s quite a lot!
You may also be asked to complete some information before your first appointment. Completing this in advance helps us make the most of your time with your therapist.
Our clinic is located at 304 Ewell Road, Surbiton.
Parking around the clinic can sometimes be a little unpredictable. On some days there are plenty of spaces nearby, while on others you may need to park a little further away.
Unfortunately, parking availability is outside of our control, so we recommend allowing a little extra time for your journey, particularly if you’re visiting us for the first time.
When you arrive, our reception team will be there to welcome you. They may ask you for a few additional details to complete your patient file before you see your therapist.
Your first appointment is all about understanding you and your problem.
Your chiropractor, sports therapist or other practitioner will take a detailed history and carry out an appropriate assessment. They will then explain their findings and discuss the most suitable treatment options with you.
Where appropriate, treatment may begin during your first appointment.
Most importantly, don’t worry if you’re not sure what to expect. Our team is here to answer any questions you have and make sure you feel comfortable throughout your visit.
Thank you again for choosing Surbiton Chiropractic Centre. We look forward to welcoming you to the clinic and helping you work towards your goals.
If you have any questions before your appointment, please don’t hesitate to contact our reception team.
Your first appointment is all about understanding you, your symptoms and what may be contributing to your problem.
Your chiropractor or therapist will begin by asking you a series of questions about your current symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and general health.
Some of the questions may seem unrelated to the problem that brought you to the clinic — and we promise we’re not just being nosey!
Taking a detailed history is an important part of understanding your symptoms and helps your practitioner build a complete picture of what may be contributing to your problem. In many cases, your history can be just as important as the physical examination that follows.
After your consultation, your practitioner will carry out a thorough physical examination.
This will involve a variety of tests designed to assess things such as your movement, joint function, muscle strength, reflexes and other aspects of your physical health.
Some of the tests might seem a little unusual, but there is a reason behind them. They help us understand what is working well and where there may be areas that need further attention.
The information from your consultation and examination will then be used to help your practitioner reach a diagnosis or working clinical impression.
Once your assessment is complete, we’ll sit down with you and explain what we’ve found in clear, straightforward language.
We’ll discuss what we think may be contributing to your symptoms, answer any questions you have and talk through the treatment options available to you.
If treatment is appropriate, we’ll create a plan tailored to your individual needs and goals. This may include hands-on treatment, rehabilitation exercises, advice or a combination of different approaches.
We want you to understand your problem and feel involved in your care, so you’ll never be left wondering what we’re doing or why we’re doing it.
Our team is here to make your first visit as comfortable and straightforward as possible.
If you have any questions before your appointment, our friendly reception team will be happy to help.
Once your assessment is complete, we’ll discuss our findings with you and explain the most appropriate options for your care.
Where appropriate, treatment will usually begin during your first appointment. If we are confident that the treatment we provide is suitable for you and no further investigation is required, we’ll get started straight away.
Your treatment will be tailored to your individual needs and may include hands-on treatment, joint manipulation, soft tissue techniques, dry needling, rehabilitation exercises and advice, depending on your condition and goals.
Not every problem is straightforward, and occasionally we may recommend not treating on your first visit.
If your case is more complex, or we feel that further assessment, investigation or additional information is needed, we’ll take the time to make sure we fully understand your condition before starting treatment.
We believe that taking a little extra time to get the right plan in place is far better than rushing into treatment that may not be appropriate for you.
Our aim is to help you reduce your symptoms, improve your movement and get back to the activities that are important to you.
We’ll keep you informed throughout your care and regularly review your progress to make sure your treatment continues to be appropriate for you.
If you have any questions before booking an appointment, our friendly reception team will be happy to help.
We look forward to welcoming you to Surbiton Chiropractic Centre.
